My version of Camera Raw is suppose to be the latest version since I am using Photoshop CS4 and I checked for the latest updates and it says I have the latest updates. However in Camera Raw in the basic tab I don’t have a Sharpening slider and from what I see on the internet I am suppose to have a sharpening slider there? Can someone tell me how I can correct this situation? Thanks.

Click on the third tab – with the sharp and blurred trangles on it – and you’ll find the sharpening settings (radius, percent, etc). —

I’m using 5.6 beta and the sharpness related controls are located in the third tab.

Are you thinking about the clarity slider? This combines contrast and sharpness, and is located on the general tab.

Perhaps someone will recognize the version in question if you provide a pointer to the screen shot that shows the sharpness controls on the General tab.

No, it’s not supposed to have a sharpening slider in the first tab. I don’t know where you got that idea, but it’s wrong. It’s still in the third tab, where it always was.

Ok in the photocast Photoshop with Matt, Sharpening Workflow, Part 2 there is a picture of what I am telling you and Matt also states that the Sharpening slider is a new addition to Camera Raw 5.4 under the Adjustment Brush Sliders (which is my error since I said General tab) however I don’t have it there either. The picture shows the Exposure, Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Clarity, Sharpness, and Color sliders in the top half of the page. Can anyone comment on is there some error here is Matt wrong and is his picture showing it wrong?

The sharpness slider in the Adjustment Brush settings in my ACR 5.6, just as it appears in the picture.

I’m going to bet a nickel that you are running an older version of ACR – can you see the version number in the ACR banner?

I am embarrassed, I am clicking on the targeted adjustment tool and not the adjustment brush. Sorry my fault. I’ll put my head between my legs and go off quietly. Thanks guys.

Perhaps Adobe has added the sharpness feature to the adj brush in 5.4, deleted it for ACR 5.5, then re-added it for ACR 5.6. This is entirely possible. Another possibility is that you are clicking on the wrong tool.

Other than not seeing the sharpness slider, what controls *do* you see? —
