I have just upgraded to CS2 (from CS) and since then I have experienced a problem with my monitor profile.

I calibate my monitor using a Colorvision Spyder and OptiCal software. Normally when my ‘puter starts up you can see the monitor profile kicking in in the form of monitor’s colours changing to a correct setting.

Since installing CS2 1 of 2 things happen. These are:

1. When the computer starts up you see the profile kick in and then within a couple of seconds, kicks out again leaving incorrect colours on the monitor.

2. The profile does not kick in at all and you then have to calibrate the monitor.

Before you ask, yes, I have checked that my profile I have created is set as the default profile in the monior colour management section, I have also tried uninstalling OptiCal (and cleaned registry) and re-installed.

The only thing I can think of is that Adobe Gamma may be overriding the profile somehow – despite my profile being set as the default.
Any ideas what may be causing this, and any ideas on how to eradicate this problem? Answers in idiot language would be appreciated! Thanks.

Have you removed adobe gamma loader.exe from our startup folder?

I’ve now sussed that Adobe Gamma is the culprit here.

Sorry to sound so ignorant, but how do I remove it from the startup folder?

I’m on XP Home by the way.

Thanks

click on all programs, then look for the Startup folder in the list of programs.

Documents and settings\~username\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\ Documents and settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\

Delete the shortcut to Adobe Gamma Loader.exe

Or just run msconfig and disable it there.
