the edge of my canvas starts about 12 pixels into the ruler both on the horizontal and the vertical – why is this?

It’s a bug. Are you using CS1? This happens when you perform the following steps (although there may be other ways):

1. New document;
2. Zoom in until you have scrollbars;
3. Press End key to reveal lower-right corner;
4. Place mouse pointer over lower-right corner;
5. Press F (for fullscreen);
6. Press Home to go to top-left. Notice the canvas no longer starts at zero.

I believe this bug has been fixed in CS2.

Click in the upper left corner where your rulers meet. This should reset them to zero. You can drag both the vertical and horizontal zero points to where ever you want by dragging diagonally.

Peadge 🙂
