thanks
Steve

You don’t. Deactivation was instituted with CS2.

Steve,

When uninstalling PS CS, you have the option of performing an Advanced Uninstall which removes your activation data. If you do so, then you will have to reactivate PS CS if you reinstall it to the same system. If you forego the Advanced Uninstatll and leave the activation data intact, a reinstall of PS CS should not require reactivation (I think I’m remembering that correctly). However, if you were to install it elsewhere, that would be a new activation which may or may not be allowed if you’ve already used up the 2 permitted activations of PS CS on two PCs. Whether you perform the Advanced Uninstall or not, if the system you removed it from will never be used again for PS CS and you still wish to install it on a 3rd PC, then you’d have to contact Adobe and get Customer Service to reset one of your activation records so the activation could be performed for the 3rd PC.

With PS CS2, you can simply perform a Transfer Activation to obtain the same result without having to go through obtaining personal support from Customer Service.

Regards,

Daryl

Won’t make any difference one way or another. ‘De-activation’ in CS1 only removes the code from your machine – it doesn’t tell Adobe you have done so.

But please note, if you have upgraded to CS2 (as opposed to buying the full product with new license), your CS1 License is no longer valid. You can’t legally run CS1 on one machine and the upgrade to CS2 on another.
