Hello Photoshop users,

I am looking for a tutorial on how to create awesome/realistic (stand alone) lens flaires with Photoshop 7. The lighting effects filter is not good enough because it can’t be created in an empty layer.

You don’t need an empty layer. Fill the layer with black and apply the filter. Next, if you want to use this layer on an (any) image, just set the blending mode of the layer to "screen".
