Due to changes and upgrades I have scanners showing in my Import (File-Import)window that are no longer installed. Is there a way to delete these entries? I know I only need to click on the installed scanner
but this situation leaves too much room for time-consumng error. I am running PS7 in Win XP Pro.

Thanks for the come-back. The drivers do not appear in the Add-Remove Programs list. The scanners involved are a HP Scanjet II CX and a HP S-20 Ohotosmart slide sanner. I have deleted all references to HP that I can find but the scanners still appear in the Import window.

Just a guess here, but some scanners are detected by WinXP via the WIA (Windows Image Acquisition) interface module. Not having used that interface much, I’m not sure if it might report a previously detected even when no longer connected, but perhaps that is the culprit. The PC I’m at right now doesn’t have a scanner attached so I can only suggest that you might try launching the Scanner and Camera > Add Device control panel applet, on the thought that if it doesn’t detect your old scanners as being connected any more, then maybe it will clean up old settings.

Alternatively, if you go Start>Run>Regedit and there go Edit>Find (and F3 Find Again) you might be able to locate a reference by typing ‘Scanjet’ and ‘PhotoSmart’…?

Or a Registry Cleaner? Cos that, i think, is where their calls are still lurking…
