I’m using PS 7 & just upgraded to 7.0.1.
Adobe states my Canon G3 camera’s raw format – CRW – can be opened in PS7:

"Cameras supported by Camera Raw 1.0 plug-in in Photoshop 7.0.x" (Canon G3 is one of many listed)
"This version of Camera Raw plug-in is installed with Photoshop 7.0.x." on this page: <http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/319291.html>

I have not been able to figure out how to do this as that file type is not an option in the "OPEN" menu. Nor can it be imported. I cannot find that the plug-in is installed nor can I find where it is available. Is it a misprint?
Any help or direction greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Rick,

Were you able to open the camera files before you upgraded to 7.01? When I had 7.01 I used the Adobe Camera Raw plugin and my G3 files worked perfectly with it.

Do the camera files (*.crw) show up in the filebrowser? with thumbnails, I mean?

Rick, Camera Raw was not installed by default in Photoshop 7.01 One needed to purchase it separately.

The wording of that document is a bit infortunate in that regard. I put it in the page feedback, but don’t know if it is the proper way to do so.

Thanks for the quick replies.
I’ve never used the raw files with my G3 before this. I guess I could use the camera software & go thru all the manipulations. Thumbnails do not show up in either Windows XP nor PS filebrowser.

Pierre, you’re right – badly worded. Correct wording on Adobe’s part would have saved me – probably others too – lotsa time & effort.
So, if it needs to be purchased, 2 questions:
1) where to get it?
2) Is it worth it? Or, just bite the bullet & buy CS?

Thanks again!

I used "was" because ACR 1.0 is not any longuer available. Indeed, you should bite the bullet, but not buy CS: CS2 is out and has even more improvements. One of the best ways to spend your money, IMHO.
