I have a customer who wants his logo breaking out of the side of this vehicle using a "ripped metal" type
effect. However I have no clue where you find the plug-in or effect that creates this "ripped metal" effect nor do
I know how to make this effect in Photoshop. I was hoping to find a Photoshop or Illustrator plug-in that’s specially designed to do this effect and buy it. Yet I have found no such effect / plug-in for sale online. Click on the link below
to view a photo of this "ripping metal" effect. It appears there’s a lot of companies using this effect. This made us come
to the conclusion that there must be some type of plug-in that can easily create this exact effect. Does anyone have a
clue how this is done of if there’s a plug-in available to create this effect? Anyone know where I might be find this
plug-in? Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Xenofex 2 has a ‘rip open’ filter, there are also quite a few ‘torn edges’ filters around. Though for the metal effect, you would probably have to add that yourself.

Seems to me it would be quite easy and cost effective to

1) take some aluminium foil

2) place on background

3) rip aluminium foil

4) take photograph with digital camera

5) incorporate in your design

Just a thought.
