If you can get to a book store, like Barnes & Noble, Borders, etc., look at the Photoshop books there. The Photoshop Wow! books are very good and the one I have for version 6 has a section that shows you how to apply masks, create borders… plus much more that you may find useful in creating unique images.

These techniques require that you do a little "work" (you won’t be able to just click a button and have it done for you), but in the end, you will have a better image and one that you can be really proud of because YOU did it! Plus you will be developing a skill that may benefit you later…

There are also numerous tutorials on-line that may show you how to do these things. Try doing a search for "photoshop masks". Here is a very good site to start with. http://www.myjanee.com/index.html This is where I started learning, and have found it an invaluable tool. At times, I even go back to refresh my memory of a technique that I’d learned.

Janee, you can wait until I have at least $10 built up to send me that referral check! 😉

I am due to take some photos of my friends wedding soon and wondered if anyone could point me to some type of special effects i.e. masks for the photos such as masking, overlays etc. to try and dress the photos up a
bit.
I am not a professional so would be looking for something free or cheap.
Thank you in advance.

I usually stay away from overlays. I work to A4 size prints and put them in the Reporto albums from Mario Acerboni. I open the image in photoshop and add a couple of layers of scanned texture like parchment in different hues under the image. I remove selective areas to reveal the underlying layers for some interesting effects. Fairly simple, quick, and non-habit forming…… Examples? – take a look at the wedding page on my site. www.jc-a.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk

put some hair spray on your lens and then stick some saran wrap on the lens you’ll be amazed when you pick the pictures up at the photo hut. "Brian Cole" wrote in message
