First off
I have photoshop CS1 and ImagereadyCS. Both work flawlessly.

Installed the New CS2.

It freezes on the spash screen at reading tool preferences.

* I deleted the prefs file and retried. Same result*

I uninstalled and restarted, reinstalled, restarted, same result. Multiple times.

When the splash screen hangs, if I click outside of it , all the borders and spalsh screen go white, and I get a not responding in the Header Bar of PS.

ImagereadyCS2 will also not even bother to load. Just gives my the border window, no splash screen.

I’ve even tried to launch the adobe bridge using the shortcut in the program menu. My cpu stares at me.

Also tried all the above with video acceleration OFF and the latest drivers. My Scratch drive also has 200Gigs Free.

It has never worked once since I installed the upgrade.

CS1 in the meantime still works fine.

I have 1 gig of good corsair 3200LL ddr Ram
Athlon64 3500+
nvidia 6800GT

Sounds like a bad install to me — try reinstalling.

As stated I did that multiple times (at least 8 times with a full registry edit to delete all photoshop entries)

Thinking MY cd could be bad, I downloaded the Trial version.

Same result.

No, it means you’re hitting an installer bug of some kind.

There have been a number of similar problems reported – usually permissions related, but sometimes the MSI installer is putting things in the wrong place (and we don’t know why).

could it be reading old install files from a temp folder?

Even if its on 2 seperate versions? Trial and retail?

Would that also explain why image ready doesnt really attempt to fire up except for a border?

Still having the problem. Also noticed a good deal of people are using the dell 2005fpw LCD. I forgot to mention I am also. Clould this be the cause of a hang?

Also noticed a good deal of people are using the dell 2005fpw LCD.

Not according to the data you provided regarding the point at which it hangs. However, as a trial it would be worth changing the monitor type/driver to "Plug and Play Monitor" in the Display Properties>Settings>Advanced>Monitor>Properties dialog.
