How the hell does he do that?

I’m blown away. I didn’t think even Photoshop was that powerful.

He’s an exceptionally talented artist. I’d love to see his drawings.

‘even photoshop’?…whats more powerful for image manipulation?

there’s nothing special about what he’s doing. just lotsa clonning & airbrushing going on and some of the newer functions in PS help trim and shape the body parts very easily.

Perhaps not, aside from the fact that he does it very well.

You can’t get skin texture that good by cloning and airbrushing. He’s probably used the Healing brush and done some more
advanced things you can read about in Katrin Eismann’s book, Photoshop Restoration & Retouching.

and some of the newer functions in PS help trim and
shape the body parts very easily.

I.e., the Liquify filter.

A lot of it is done with a Wacom and a low-density, low strength smudge brush
sometimes working on a duplicate layer that is then opacity-lowered and merged down.
if you need real subtlety.

If I make a couple of phone calls to make sure the subject won’t mind, I’ll post a b/a
and a mini tutorial to my site later this week. (In this case, it was used to conceal
some scars, and she’s kind-of sensitive about them) If she says no, I’ll find another
photo to demo the work on— but that will take a little more time.

We’ll make you love that Wacom yet!

I’m unsure whether my previous post went through (being at work and trying to do things on the web is hard at times) so I’ll post again.

Does anyone have any tutorials on how this can be done?

I don’t know of any web tutorials, but I was browsing in a digital photography mag at a bookstore and read about how you can use Gaussian Blur to blur the entire image, then use the History palette to go back to the unblurred state, then use the Art History brush in lighten mode to manually brush through skin imperfections such as freckles and acne. I didn’t buy the mag, so I just tried to remember the steps, and tried it when I got home. It worked out pretty good for a novice such as me.
