Hello,
In photoshop CS, the fastest way to select a layer was to use the Move Tool, and CTRL Click in the image to select the right layer you wanted to work on.

Now in photoshop CS 2, when I do this, it automatically selects the "group" of the layer (top of the hierarchy) instead of the layer itself.

Anyone knows how to use the move tool like it was before ? (i tried shift, alt etc…)

Nicolas, another relatively quick way is to use the right mouse button to bring up a menu and choose the layer you want. I have found this to be most useful in my workflow but it is probably just a personal matter.

Right, but its slower than clicking right away with the left button :). I took the habit of it, and I am lost without it heh.

I just tried and the old way stills works for me. With the move tool I can hit Ctrl and left click on a layer in the image and that layer will be selected in the layer palette.

Do you actually have groups ? I only have this problems when I organize my layers into groups folders. Instead of selecting the right layer, it selects its parent group folder.

if you Ctrl + Alt + right click you can select any layer you want, even in folders/groups.
