Does anyone know whether they can be deleted or does CS2 pull some structure from them? The typical "deleting program may damage other software operation" , or something to that affect, comes in in a message window? Should I just give up the hard drive space and leave well enough alone?
XP Pro/1G RAM/2G Pentium 4.

As far as I know, you can wipe out any previous versions of PS either prior to or after installation of CS2.

By all means, keep the installation CDs or diskettes from the earlier versions though. You never know when you might need them, especially if you wipe the earlier versions before you install CS2. You will be required to insert them during CS2 installation to verify that you qualify for the upgrade.

Maybe a more knowledgeable person will comment soon though.

Be sure to salvage your brushes, actions, styles, etc. before you delete it.

Personally I would keep them – you never know whether you might need PS7 in an energency. (CS activation problems perhaps?!)

If you are going to remove them, do so though the Add/Remove facility in the Control Panel.

Chris.
