I have tried and tried to install CS2 try out but I keep running into a wall. I down loaded the ZIP file from the ‘Net and then began unloading it to my system. The installation looked like it was going well until an error message popped up saying >>>> "An error has been detected with a required application library and the product cannot continue. Please re install the application." <<<< I can’t tell whether the message is referring to CS2 or some other application on my system, and certainly there is no reference to a particular library. I have tried several times to set CS2 up but always get this far and things stop abruptly. Any suggestions would be appreciated. AMD processor, XPHome, a gig of ram, yada, yada. Thanks again for any help. Jack

You did unzip the entire Zip file to an empty directory, right? Don’t try to run an installer from within a Zip file.

Yes, I down loaded the compressed file from the net to one of my discs that has lots of empty space on it. Then I unzipped it to a new folder on the same disc. As I say, it waltzes along as it should doing the install wizard thing and then hits a wall. Can’t understand it. If there is something basically wrong in the installation under windows I would expect Adobe to have realized it and either made a change in the app or at least offered a suggestion on how to avoid it. As it is, I am not running anything on my system that I wouldn’t expect just about everyone else to be using too. Everything is MS except Corel WP9 and Panda Security. I am surprised too that with all of the profit that they are making on their software Adobe isn’t seizing this opportunity to learn more about their product by offering help on the trial version. It stands to reason that if someone can’t get the program to work correctly there is little chance that they will actually buy it. Thanks in advance for any more suggestions. Jack

Try clearing out your temp directory, usually (in XP) c:\documents and settings\[username]\local settings\temp. Delete files more than a week old in the main temp directory and delete subdirectories that aren’t related to a running program. Sometimes there are leftover files that can interfere with an install program. Clean out your recycling bin, too (to make sure everything is gone that you don’t need). Now reboot and try the install again.
