Resizing – always wondered why…

For example, when I try to make an A4 size canvas, and then change the display to MM, what was once 21cm (210 mm) is displayed in Photoshop as 209.97 mm (with the height having the same difference in properties)?

What gives? Is it just that the actual size in MM ‘straddles’ inbetween the pixels?

..03 of a millimeter isn’t going to matter to anyone anywhere. But yes, I suspect that it’s a matter of rounding because Photoshop works in pixels.

Yes, the actual size would need a fraction of a pixel — which doesn’t work so well 😉

I guess the concept is a discrete partitioning of the event space and one in which only integer values are permissible?

However, You CAN have fractions in your resolution. This may be the key, using Image > Image Size with Resampling unchecked.
