How do you get rid of the "framework" around each file?

This is new in CS2. Every file opens with a bar detailing the document’s size, along with the slidebars to the bottom and right of the canvas, whether it needs sliding or is small enough to fit onscreen easily. This reduces space in the workspace for different files and also introduces a sense of false clutter.

Please tell me there’s a way to get rid of this?

Hit the F key to remove the window and place the image directly onto the Photoshop desktop.

Thanks, but what that does is maximise the window size of the file, so that you can only view one file at a time. I can’t believe that they’ve introduced this obstructive new feature and given no way to switch it off! I’m very disappointed about this actually.

I feel the same way. Have you noticed its really laggy where theres no scrollbars, resizing the current window thats open is so jerky as it only becomes smooth when theres scrollbars present.

That’s because when the scroll bars are present the picture isn’t actually moving on the screen. So the jerkiness when you enlarge the window is a function of the video driver’s ability to move pixels around the screen because then the photo is actually moving.

So is it definite then? There’s no way to stop Photoshop displaying the scroll bars with every file?

I think I might go back to CS2. This is ridiculous.

I too preferred the neater look to the image windows in CS1 – but I’m going to hold off slashing my wrists!

In my previous post, I meant to type CS1 instead of CS2. Sorry all. My rant was malfunctional.

I hate to agree, but the "mandatory" scrollbars are retarded. When I have 10 pictures open on the screen at the same time, the last thing I would want to see is navigation controls cluttering the window.

PLEASE, at the very least, make this feature something that can be turned off!

Frustrated at how Adobe always seems to take two steps backwards with each new revision of Photoshop.

While not being a total disaster it is, to say the least, a royal pain in the <insert appropriate portion of anatomy here> 🙁
