Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if someone could give me some tips on how to create a similar look to this:

<http://uoma.uoregon.edu/exhibitions/i/WarholMarilyn.jpg>

I have a b&w photo to start with.

I have seen a few tutorials on Andy Warhol looks, but they are mostly the 9 variations look.

Thanks for any help!

Image > Adjustments > Posterize

Lower numbers give a stronger effect.

Then play with the sliders in Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation

Use the curves option to make the image really contrasty. The select certain areas with the lasso tool that you want to colour in. Select the paint bucket tool and make sure "contigious" is unchecked in the options bar. If you zoom in to the section to see the pixels and then use the paint bucket tho colour them, it should only colour the pixels that are all the same colour. (you may have to adjust the tolerance to get this right.) The andy warhol look keeps some of the black and white to keep definition, so don’t worry if it looks weird when you start off.

With a B&W image try the threshold feature. Then layer the areas you want the various colors. Paint in the color of the area, change normal to multiple then play with the transperancy.
