I’m using PSCS.

I have grayscale image I would like to change back to full colour, can this be done? Although I do have the original image in colour, I’ve cropped a section of the image, made changes to it and then save that cropped section to grayscale without saving it as a colour first.

If it’s easier to just start from scratch I will as I’ve not made that many changes to the cropped image.

Thanks.

If you haven’t closed the grayscale image you might be able to undo your little fingers off.

short of that, you could copy the grayscale image onto your color image so that you crop to the same size….

If you do as Wil suggests; copy the color image and paste it onte the graysclae image, you can change the blend mode of this color layer to color, to preserve the changes you did to the grayscale file.

Thanks, I shall keep this for future reference, but for now I’ve just re-cropped the colour original, it was easier.

I am just getting to the end of a 10 day trial of Coloriage.

It is certainly impressive at intelligently adding colour to monochrome pictures or changing colours in coloured pictures.

However I won’t be buying it for a couple of reasons.

The interface is clunky and slow, switching between tools needs the mouse and I couldn’t find an "undo" or any other keyboard shortcut in the (very thin) help.

It also needs well defined edges in the original to stop colours bleeding, for example from the green leaves into the blue sky, if not the areas have to be painstakingly outlined, which takes away the magic (and speed) of the program.

Last but not least it cost $97 for home use and $246 for commercial use. Maybe a discounted Version 2.0 would be more tempting.

Hi John,
Thank you for the feedback on the product.
I’m working with AKVIS and I’d like to give you my comments on the issue.

switching between tools needs the mouse There are hotkeys in AKVIS Coloriage to call the tools:
Tab- to switsch between the windows Before/After
I – Eyedropper
B – Pencil
E – Eraser
G – Tube

I couldn’t find an "undo" or any other keyboard shortcut in the (very thin) help. You are right. We will add it in the next update.

Last but not least it cost $97 for home use and $246 for commercial We have discounts for those who has already bought smth from AKVIS, besides NGO can get a license for free.
As for the rather high price for the commercial license, we think it is reasonable as colorizing B&W photos is a popular business.

Your comments are welcome. It will help us to improve the software and add functions the users need.
