I run Windows XP, completely updated.

I bought Creative Suite CS and registered it. I just bought the Photoshop CS2 upgrade. When I tried to install it, the installer program wouldn’t recognize Photoshop on my Creative Suite Disk, nor recognize the existing copy of Photoshop CS on my hard drive.

I don’t have a pile of money, and bought Creative Suite CS when I was a student. Am I going to have to buy the entire Creative Suite CS2 upgrade to move up to Photoshop CS2?

I’m afraid so. That’s the #1 reason I didn’t get the suite. Suite upgrades only to another version of suite.

I was in the precise situation and discovered the same drawback to the Suite. One alternative resolution would be to trade your Creative Suite with someone who has a registered version of PS 5.5 or higher. You each then transfer your applications to the other and notify Adobe on its appropriate form. Now you can purchase and install the upgrade version of PS CS2.

I found several who have older versions of PS willing to make the exchange. Many were skeptical of my desire to transfer Creative Suite for an old version of PS suspecting mine was a bootleg copy.
