CS2 still has a crop tool bug like CS1 (I reported in the forum in times of CS1 already, but no response).
Open an image and insert for example the following values in the option bar of the crop tool: width:13cm, height:13cm, resolution:300dpi
now make a crop. Open another image. Clear the values in the option bar of the crop tool using the "clear" button. Insert the value 300 dpi in the resolution field. Make a crop. Although there are NO values for width and height the crop tool still makes 13/13cm!
If you clear the fields manually instead of using the "clear" button, everything works fine.
The clear button seems to just "visually clear" the entries, but PS still uses them. Will we ever get rid of this bug or am I doing anything wrong?

In all my time of using the crop tool I’d not noticed that before.

After using Clear I wouldn’t normally put anything back into the Resolution box – and in these circumstances the "problem" doesn’t occur.

Under what circumstances would you need to enter a resolution without an entry in the width and height?

Chris,
for example I have to retouch some scans, that someone made. The image size is lets say 2,4 * 3,6 cm at 4000dpi, but the client wants them back with 300dpi and the resulting print size without interpolation (in this case it would be 32*48cm/300dpi).
If I set my crop tool to 300 dpi (without height/width) I can crop the image (dark borders etc.) and have changed the dpi as well without having to go to the image size dialog. But if you have cleared values with the clear button, you can end up interpolating the picture, because PS still uses the enries that you had set before
(in case you had set width, height and resolution).
