File extension problems after uninstalling CS2

Hi,

I tried the trail version of Photoshop CS2. Needless to say, it took over any and all files I had created with the version of Photoshop which I use (v.7). Just before the trial period ended, I uninstalled CS2. I got most of my file extension back in order but now I am no longer to save files in the TIFF or .ESP format.

I’ve done everything I know what to do. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

OK, what have you tried? The best way is to access the file types tab on the control panel. You should get the instructions for this task from Help. Jim

If all else fails, here’s a shot in the dark ass-u-me-ing you haven’t already: Uninstall/reinstall PS7?

Caution: If you take this route, be sure you have backed up custom (or downloaded) actions, textures, scripts, brushes, presets, etc. somewhere outside of the PS folder tree. They’ll get wiped during an uninstall/reinstall exercise.

No need to uninstall. Just reinstall it right on top of itself.

In this case do all PS folders get wiped and replaced with new folders and files or are the PS files just replaced = no risk to custom files?

What about preferences files such as Actions Palette.psp?

Only the application files should get overwritten. As with any type of procedure like this, backing up files you need is always a good idea.
