I am trying to install CS2. I have a windows Media Center Edition PC (running XP Pro), 1 gig RAM, with 165 gigs of hard drive space available.

At the end of the installation process (and before the registration), I get an error message that states:

Setup requires Internet Information Server 4.0 or higher for configuring ISS virtual routes. please make sure you have IIS 4.0 or higher.

Adobe tech help had no answers, HP said to call Microsoft, and Microsfot said to call HP.

Questions:

What is Internet Information Server? Everything I could find indicates it is a server ftp management system of some kind.
Why is it necessary for CS2?
Is there a work around?
I really need CS2 as I am a photographer and am in the process of converting from film to digital mediums.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

John,

What is Internet Information Server<<

IIS is Microsoft’s web server application. You would only need it on your machine if you are doing web development using server-side scripting, or serving web pages.

Why is it necessary for CS2?<<

It isn’t. Definitely not!

I’m sorry, but I’ve no idea why you should be getting that message.
