batch re-naming

i’m a filmmaker. i have a series of photographs that are on CD that are already named, but need to be numbered in sequence. And, in order for the Avid to recognize them, the number must come first.

Can one do a batch action and add a number BEFORE the name that’s there without changing the name. I haven’t been able to do that.

what version of Photoshop are you using?

The batch rename function allows you to put numbers in the first field, then the current filename in the second field, then extention in the third one…

I’m using CS. I know how to number sequentially within a folder. Can one number sequentially in different folders, e.g. if one folder ends at number 1092, can one get the next folder to begin at 1093 and go up from there.
