Can somebody please tell me how I can create the text effect like the example on the following webpage using Photoshop CS2 (block letters in one color dropping down in a second color to a single point)?

Somebody gave me that text which he created somehow in a Word document which I inserted into Photoshop as an image and placed it on that webpage. I want to recreate it in Photoshop and change the colors.

looks to me like it was created in CorelDraw using the extrude option. HTH

You really need a vector program for this, coral or illustrator maybe.

It may look like that it was created using CorelDraw but I was given that text in a Microsoft Word document and I was told that it was created using Microsoft Word. The text was still editable within that Word document so it was not an image that was created elsewhere and inserted into that document. I could not even figure out how that effect was created in Microsoft Word. I tried experimenting with various "WordArt" effects but could duplicate it.

In any case, can anyone tell me how to create that text effect using Photoshop?

There is a addin application called Word Art. Looks cheesy enough to have been done that way.

Why do you refer to that text effect as "cheesy"? Are you saying that you do not like that text effect?

could be that’s the look he’s going for bob. isn’t it kind of rude to suggest something that subjective is "cheesy" – or any other negative conotating term you want to apply – when you don’t know what he’s doing or the audience he’s trying to reach or the mood he’s trying to convey?

Even it’s the look he’s going for, it’s still cheesy. Could it be right? Could be…it could also be wrong. How many times have people come here asking about page curl effects and been told not to do it?

And the question is…How do you do this in Photoshop?

There is a plugin that can do this, but I don’t think there is an automatic tool or a filter that will extrude text (or anything else) like this in Photoshop.

These two tutorials are about using the Move tool and nudging to make 3-D lettering might help. You will end up with a gazillion layers, but you can merge them and then play with perspective using the Transform tool.

I’d simply create a PDF in Word and place/open that in Photoshop.

I had a go in MS Word and it is merely Wordart with a 3D effect tacked on to it. The 3D effect in Word is grayed out until you create an image (Wordart/Autoshape etc.,) Then the 3D effect box becomes available. Still think it would be easier in CorelDraw/Illustrator.
