I have so far been unsuccessful in getting prints to centre on the page on my HP 6110 Officejet Printer from CS2 (and Photoshop Elements 3.0). I tick the centre image box and it looks good on the screen in preview mode, however, the print always comes out off centre to the left of the A4 page (around 1" / 2.5cm). This is happening in Landscape and I have not tried portrait. The printer always centres prints from other applications (HP Photo Print / Excel etc) so that part works. CS2 centres prints when printing to a Canon MP780. So it appears to be a glitch between CS2 and the HP 6110 Officejet driver. The printer driver is up to date. Can anyone suggest a fix?

Gerry,

Centre Image will centre the image on the printable area of your printer. That is seldom the same as the centre of the media. Most desktop inkjets will always print with one border larger than the other three. The printer uses this area for its paper handling.

To see the printable area of your printer, create a new image 21 cm by 29.7 cm, fill with a 10% black and print it ignoring the clipping message. That will allow you to see the uneven borders of your printer.

Thanks Len – is the fix to then add an offset to the left (landscape) margin based on the sum of the observed margins / 2 ?
I’ll give it a go
cheers
