I have an EPSON Perfection 1200U scanner with Twain version 5.53A installed on a Windows XP Professional SP2 system with Photoshop CS2. Everything worked fine in CS1, and still works fine in other programs (e.g., PSP).
The problem I encounter with CS2 is as follows. I go to import image via the Twain driver (via the File menu), the Twain interface comes up normally, the image scans normally, but when the image "opens" in CS2, its as if the Twain driver does not fully release it (although the Twain interface does go away); CS2 freezes up – you can see the scanned image, but clicking the mouse (which does still move) does nothing but cause a beep. If I hit the Alt key, I can get to the File menu, but the "save" and "save as…" options are greyed out, as if no image were present within CS2. The only way I can proceed is to Ctrl-Alt-Del my way out of CS2.
I have repeated this with different size images and settings, including some very small resolutions – it does not seem to be related at all to scanned image size.
At this point my only workaround is to scan images into Paint Shop Pro, save the image, then open in CS2.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ted
