CS2 startup

I have used PS7 for a long time an bought CS2 on May 5. I am using Windows XP Home and CS2 worked fine until last week. When I try to start the program I now get message that "Photoshop 8 does not run under this version of the operating system". PS7 still runs fine. I have tried all the help advice. Reloaded, cleared startup, etc. but nothing helps. Any ideas. According to my system I meet all the minimum requirements, and as I said the CS2 worked fine for three weeks. Also I have not loaded any new programs.

Photoshop 8 is CS, not CS2.

Have you tried trashing your prefs?

Either XP has become seriously damaged, or you somehow booted into Win9X.

Thank you all for answering. Problem is solved. Somehow system thought CS2 was to be started under Windows 98. I goofed somewhere
