Have CS2 on Win XP Pro

Photoshop eventually fires up in the end – but before it does – I get two error messages that I have to click OK to – to get to photoshop.

Error messages say: Application failed to start because upl32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. Also EToolBox.dll was not found.

How can I get rid of these 2 problems at photoshop CS2 startup?

Thanks,

Ray

EToolBox.dll is used by several Extensis plug-ins. If you don’t have any installed, then you’ll probably want to proceed with doing so. If you don’t plan to use them, and didn’t run the normal software uninstaller, then you’ll need to do install and uninstall them to clean things up. I’m not familiar with the other dll, but a Google search suggests it is part of the Ultimatte plug-in.

Did you either copy over all of your CS plugins to CS2 or point your CS2 extra plugins directory to your CS plugins directory? You may need to install your plugins for CS2 specifically.

I’ve found that simply copying the DLL from the earlier PS folder into the CS2 folder is enough to get those plugins to load properly.

Found the problem:

The dll warning boxes were not Photoshop CS2 warnings itself – but they were the warnings that one of my plugins was damaged. I was being warned of the problem before Photoshop started itself up.

I repaired/reloaded the plugin and now it works fine. FYI – I have CS2 pointing back at my old CS plugin directory – and it works fine so far. I may move it over later.

Thanks for the help.

Move it now. You are going to have issues with conflicts because of the native Adobe filters.
