This souns like one for the features requests to me.
A pretty good one too?
Isn’t it: right click on desktop > Properties > Settings and just deselect the second monitor? presuming that you don’t want the second monitor active.
I really wouldn’t want to have to do that every time I want to use photoshop. Plus, I would like to have my email client or web browser on the second monitor.
make sure when ps is in non maximized, but not minimized either, state, that it’s COMPLETELY on the first monitor. then maximize. then it should work how you want.
Depends on the way it’s set up. It can be setup as one very large desktop which would stretch everything across both monitors or as independent monitors which would behave the way you describe.
FWIW, the latter is the way I have mine set up. I don’t want anything on my primary monitor but what I’m working on. This goes for all applications, but to each his own.

I finally figured out how to control the video card on that. Thanks for the replies. I figured I would want horizontal span and that there would be an option to split the monitors there. It’s actually called dual view, for nvidia, where you could even change the resolution of the different monitors if you wish.
The future looks multi-monitored for sure?
That was one reason I went for a Viewsonic – apparently it has a robust enough stand to accommodate other monitors as side panels – should I wish to do so of course…
we have hp monitors because we have some deal with them. I’m not sure who makes their higher end monitors. They have dual input though, plus picture in picture for composit if you so wish.
I did notice some twinkling on a couple colors though in one of my monitors. It’s strange though. They are the same monitor.
