We have two computers, one with Adobe CS and one with Photoshop 6.0. The computer with CS is having hard drive toruble so I was transfering files to the other computer to rescue them.

Several files were psds created in CS. All but one will open in Photoshop 6.0. When I try to open this file, I get a message that says, "Could not open [ long file directory address and name here] because there is not enough memory (RAM). However, I get a thumbnail of the image that looks correct.

The is 5.x mg in size and has multiple layers. The other files include images that are bigger in size but have less layers, and opened easily in Photoshop 6.0.

When I could run the other computer (having trouble booting it now), I could access that file over the network and through Adobe CS,showing that CS could access and open the file even with it stored on another computer.

I have since rebooted the Abobe 6.0 computer but the file still won’t open.

Another interesting problem is that older versions (that were stored on this computer in February) of that same file will also not open in Photoshop 6.0.

Is this possibly an incompatibility between the two version of Photoshop? Or is it more likely a bad file?

Please let me know, because as of this moment the originating hard drive appears to be dead and I will probably not be able to access it or the original file again. 🙁

Thanks.
