Hey, I love PS as much as the next person, and have faithfully bought all the updates each time they come out. But 7.0 is begining to bug me.

About every other time I start it up (and I use PS every day) it wants to connect to the internet to check for updates. I wouldn’t mind except this means it takes about twice as long to load as it does when it doesn’t check for updates (BTW, it never seems to find any updates :>) I can hit cancel (and sometimes I do) but it’s pretty annoying to have to do this twice (usually even after I cancel the first time it wants to continue to try and connect).

Come on guys, you don’t change versions THAT often — wouldn’t once a month be more than enough? Is there some kind of setting I can change in the ini file to keep this from happening?

(And I have DSL — I can only imagine how long it would take if I were on a dial-up).

Go to EDIT>PREFERENCES>ONLINE then change the updates to never. Keep your eyes and ears open for word of actual updates and then and only then go out and get them.

Try the solution I offered in Photoshop. Because it is by Adobe, the set up is likely similar.
