Hi, I want to buy Photoshop 7.0 and I have seen it being offered at 41$ on ebay. However, I am not sure if it is authentic, I assume it is because it has been shut down by Adobe yet. Here is two links for you to examine.
According to the sellers these are OEM versions of Photoshop but I am not an expert. I hope someone can help me on this.
I also checked out Amazon for used copies and it is not cheap there at all, somewhere around 100$. For some ebay sellers the feedback is pretty good which suggests the price is really good afterall.

First instead of assume I should have used guess. It is actually quite surprising to me that these sales has been going on for a while. Some of the sellers have more than 1000 feedback, which means they already sold lots of software. Also because ebay doesn’t do anything about them, it does suggest these are legitimate copies. Finally many people seem to be happy with their software, I assume many would be cautious about the authenticity about the software, after all why pay 40 bucks for pirated software. I have seen only 2 buyers out of 1000 who complained that the software is pirated, but again nothing has been done about the seller and the seller is still selling this software. What I am trying to say is that, this case can easily go both way. The price and some detailed info suggests this is pirated, on the other hand the happy buyers, the ebay’s and adobe’s inaction and the fact that this has been going for a while suggests it is authentic. Don’t get me wrong, I do believe you that the software is pirated, but only because I think you are expert on this topic and the admin deleted the links by stating that they are pirated. I would actually appreciate if he/she also replied to my question with some more detail instead of simply deleting the links.

you’d think, huh. but think again, where’s a guy getting 1000 copies of software that’s been out of print since 2001 or 2003? (vers 6 or 7). how’s he selling a 600 app for 79 bux?
Already did that a few times, nothing happened, seller still selling pirated software. I’ve said it before, people who do buy pirated software(z) are potential Adobe customers for the future, right, or am I just being cynical?
The loophole that many of the more savvy wholesalers like this use is to explain that all you’re buying is a BACK-UP copy, and that you are required to have purchased a legitimate licence from Adobe in order to be able to use what the slimy vendor is selling you.
With the proper legalese bullsnot attached to the terms of service, the scuzzballs are able to get away with contiunually selling these cheap disks. Problem is, the legalese is often buried so deep that many purchasers will never see it, let alone read and understand it.
Like the good Mr. Schewe says in the article I linked to above, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."
As for eBay, quite a few months back, I purchased a clock. Total bill with shipping under $20 USD. The seller had about 1400 sales and purchases under their belt, and a 99.0% positive feedback rating.
I didn’t get the clock, sent and e-mail, was notified there was a death in the family, waited some more, sent another e-mail, was told it was shipped, waited, sent another e-mail, didn’t get a response.
After 45 days I did some work and discovered the person was still selling clocks left and right. Their positive feedback rating had dropped to 82%. I contacted eBay and was told first off that I would have had to report it within 30 days. My mistake for allowing extra time during a family crisis. I was then told by eBay that unless LOTS (they couldn’t define this for me) people complained, there was nothing that could be done.
I clicked on all the people who had purchased from the and sent a quick e-mail message (space on the eBay site is VERY limited). Most replied and we all complained. eBay denied that other complained until we sent in a mass e-mail to them. The seller was kicked from eBay.
Two months later I noticed clocks being sold again. Different seller name, but the same mailing address! Got them shut down again, but this time it didn’t take as much time.
All the above to say this. eBay makes money selling space to sellers. They are not in a hurry to stop a seller. Seeing lots of low-priced software on eBay doesn’t mean it’s legit, it just shows that they haven’t been forced off yet.
I’ve bought from eBay advertisers many times before and after the clock episode, and every time knowing I may or may not get my money’s worth. You should too.
If the price of software is far below what you would expect to pay at a retailer, if it the ad doesn’t clearly speak license transfer, and if it states the software can’t be registered and no technical support is available… DON’T BUY IT!
