The other program is Paint Shop Pro. *cringe*

I’m designing a logo that I want to have put on a sign, but unfortunately have to use Paint Shop. The sign people are most likely going to want a .psd file for editing and enlargement. I have the option of saving it as a .psd in Paint Shop but wonder if it be easy to import into Photoshop since each program handles vectors differently.

Wondering if any one has had experience doing this and if it worked well for them or not.

Do you have access to a copy of Photoshop? You could put your exported .psd on a CD and carry it to the machine with Photoshop, and see for yourself if it works.

No, that is why I asked the question here. I live in a rural area.

I’ve created PSD image files, with and without layers, in PSP 9 and been able to load them into PS with no problem. However, I have not tried it with vector layers.

Try opening and translating the Photoshop file using another program, then saving it in a format you can read with PaintShop Pro. It should be able to read TIF.

Try using The Gimp <http://www.gimp.org/> or IrfanView <http://www.irfanview.com/>, both are free.

r_harvery, I designed a logo in Paint Shop Pro v.9. I need to have a vector file for the printer or sign maker to make the sign, and I am assuming they will have Photoshop so I saved it as a .psd file to be imported into Photoshop. I want to know if Photoshop will read the vector file properly. Hope that is clearer.

Somebody’s going to swoop down and tell you that you should always do logos as vectors to begin with. And keep the masters as vectors forever, only converting to pixels when the job requires it. You’re trying to get there now, so you already understand the issues of scaling and such.

A sign maker is going to ask you for a vector file, anyway. You really should be using something like Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, Macromedia Freehand, or another program whose native working mode is always vectors.

r_harvey, thanks for "swooping down". The file is vector. I said in my previous question:

"I want to know if Photoshop will read the vector file properly." (Once I save it to a .psd)

I cannot tell if the vectors are able to be edited in Photoshop because now it is a .psd file, and PSP won’t let me edit a .psd file.

Thanks for the help.
