The last day or so when I use the auto levels command, the entire image goes white. This also happens with the Auto colors command. Nothing else seems to be affected.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop 7 and went the rebooting route.

Any suggestions?

One way for this to happen is to have wonky settings for the white eyedropper. Double click on the white eyedropper and if the value appears unreasonably large – 100 percent for example, change it to .5 or so.

Failing that – it’s three finger salute time. Start Photoshop with the ctrl, alt, and shift keys all pressed, and click "Yes" when it asks if you want your preferences to be reset to their factory defaults. It’s probably a good idea to do this anyway every few months or so.

My suggestion is to stop using auto levels! It’s a one-click solution, but not a very good one. You will usually get far better results by adjusting your levels manually.
