I was able to open NEF raw files from D70 in PSCS browser. For curiousity, I installed a trial version of Nikon’s Capture 4.1 software.
However, Nikon’s software automatically took priority of NEF Raw files and PSCS Raw function could no longer be engaged.

I uninstalled Nikon capture. However, now when I try to open D70 NEF files in PSCS there is an error message "not enough ram"

My OS is Windows XP Home. Dell computer. 1GB ram.(80% to PSCS). 160GB hard disk. Minimum programs. I’m a novice.

cut it back to 50% in the prefrences and see how that does…

One of the cheapest improvements you can make to a computer that you use for PS is to add more RAM. One gig (1024 megs) is reasonable, and usually runs less than $100.

It didn’t work. However I was planning to upgrade to cs2, which I did and nef files open easily.

cool though about the upgrade. have fun photoshopping. lots of new things to see and do in cs2!
