Failure to load help files in PS CS2

I downloaded the tryout version of Photoshop CS2. It installs to the point where the help files are being loaded, when it hangs forever. If I exit the installation, PS seems to be working correctly, but of course the help center is not available. I am on cable so I have downloaded the file twice — with the same result both times. Any idea of what the explanation might be?

I am running Windows XP on a P4 3Ghz with 1Gig of memory.
