Photoshop ERROR when opening a file.

OS : Windows XP
CPU : P4 2.4 gh
Ram : 512 MB
Photoshop CS

Yesterday I was working on a picture with *.psd extention. I saved normally and shut down the PC.
Today I try to work on the same file and I get this error msg.

This document contains Adobe Photoshop data which appears to be damaged.Continue and ignore the Photoshop data?
OK or Cancel

OK Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible
with this version of Photoshop.

????

I tryed deleting the *.psp files in Documents and Settings but it did not help.I have no problems opening other files from yesterday.

Please help !

2 hrs isn’t very long to wait for a reply…

If the image is corrupt, it is most unlikely that you will be able to open it

try opening it in other apps like image ready or ifranview or something else that can read psd’s. you might get something back…

Thank you very mutch. Is it known the cose of this problem because i want to escape repeating it. This was a sketch then edited then painted with ps for 7h and I am … welll mad … So pleas help if you know the cose of the problem.
I don’t want to repeat it.

hard drive corruption is usually the problem. improper shutdown? crash? saving to a network or external drive where the connection isn’t as clean as possible? hard to tell what’s wrong from here…
