hi all!
got a very simple question:

would like to get some techno-math feeling into one of my images. therefore i need to make a perfect isometric cube – a transparent one. can someone point me in the right direction how to get this simple task done? (i already tried, transparent square shape, dubplicate, distort (to what degree?) etc ….
it just did not come out as a perfect cube.
any other hints … links …. to math-techno -design ideas?

thx

Do a web search, use the words "Photoshop cube tutorial" and then pick the one that suits your needs.

The 3-D Transform Filter works great for this type of shape. There are a number of tutorials using this filter on the web and in various books. If you have any of Scott Kebly’s books (Down & Dirty Tricks, PS7, CS or Elements) you can find a detailed pictorial tutorial to suit your needs. In elements it’s on page 224.

You can also try making your own "guides." In an isometric view the lines will be at 60 degrees. So, you can draw out a guide that will be the center of the shape. Then, using the line tool, draw a long horizontal line. Using free transform, you can rotate it 60 degrees in the degrees field. Dupe this line three times (so you have four lines on four separate layers). Take the fourth line, and flip it horizontally, and dupe it two times. Then arrange the lines so that they intersect the center guide you made earlier. At this point you can pull out some more guides to match up with the appropriate intersections. Now you have fairly accurate guide points to draw out your cube. Here’s an example of the setup:
