I have two questions.

1. We recently purchased the Photoshop CS Upgrade and I was under the impression that Adobe fonts came with the program. I have been unable to find them. Can you clarify if/where I can locate Adobe fonts on the program disk?

2. I have begun to get into print media and have been creating print documents (text) with Photoshop. I am aware that this is not the most efficient way of doing this, but am unclear why and what you can do with InDesign that you cannot do with Photoshop. Can you clarify this for me.

Thank you.

1. Michael Thall, "Fonts bundled with Creative Suite 2 (and individual CS2 products)" #32, 9 Jun 2005 4:19 pm </cgi-bin/webx?13/34> It should be explained in this thread.

2. You can’t do a two page (or longer) document in Photoshop, for instance. There are many long document features in ID, like master pages, automatic page numbers, etc. All ID features are vector based … some parts of PS are vector now, including type, but ID is still stronger in this area, ID has much better typographic controls for hyphenation as well as a few other things.

But PS is the champ at manipulating images, what it was created for, including the images you would place in InDesign.

Don, that thread (and the links in it) didn’t list any fonts for PSCS, which is what the OP was asking about. He may have meant to ask about the complimentary bonus, one of the choices for which is Garamond Pro. You can get this only after getting a letter from Adobe upon registering. In my case, I still haven’t gotten the letter and as a result haven’t been able to get my font set!

My mistake. I thought I read it was CS2. The similar thread for CS is Neil Keller, "211 OpenType fonts available with Creative Suite" #153, 18 Mar 2005 5:26 pm </cgi-bin/webx?13/154>

As for the bonus, I got Brioso Pro with CS on registering, and no letter was involved. It was an option in the registration process (on the web) and only available in North America.

I’m thinking that Garamond Pro is the bonus for CS2 … I haven’t upgraded (and won’t, although the font is worth almost as much as the upgrade).
