Hi, I am looking for a plugin for Photoshop (or the technique) You see it used in saome music videos and commercials – the colors are oversaturated, the image is a bit grainy and each object seems to have a bit of a shadow on it. Anyone know the effect I am talking about and can help me with the technique?

An image would help.
Also, there are several sites dealing specifically with plug-ins, you might have more luck than here.

Try multiple stacks of the same image with layer mode at Multiply, Linear light, …

Multiple applications of the same layer mode have a summative effect or compose combinations to suit

A Levels adjustment layer may help – possibly one near the foot of the stack, one in the middle and a bit of fine-tuning at the top?

Try Image > Posterize

Then play around.
