How come when I put a drop shadow on an object and then place it as a gif exporting it as a transparant background, if I then place in FP and change the color of the page there is a white border that follows the black drop shadow?

What is the best way to create a drop shadow on a border to be used in a web page so that any other colors will meet up to it perfectly?

If you know the background color your gif will be on, you can choose that color on the Matte drop-down menu, but if the background is complex, I think the only option will be to save your picture as a PNG-24 with transparency.

can’t use png with transparancy as IE browser cannot read the transparancy, gif is the only option.

Try this, change the size and name to fit.

Use this code to make PNG’s transparent in both IE and NS
