I have just upgraded my computer from ME to XP and added an Epson Stylus Photo R210 printer.
I have been running Photoshop 5.5 quite successfully and printing on an Epson Stylus Photo 870.

My question is: why do I no longer have enough memory in photoshop to print to my printer. Everytime I try it comes up with "not enough Memory" and then tells me there is an Error 10.

Please can you help?

Perhaps because the memory requiremens of XP are larger than those of ME. How much physical memory do you have?
How big is your pagefile?
How much of the physical memory do you let PS use?

See what PS tells you but I think that PS manages very well memory as long as you give it enough RAM/pagefile.
If you haven’t enough RAM, try increasing your pagefile under XP control panel. That ‘d work.

I run PS7, terragen + some products (antivirus, office, etc) with only 192 MB RAM and 12 GB disk, a config probably similar to yours. In theory my XP should hangs up as my two rendering software are memory hungrier. But I extended my pagefile to about 600 MB and even if the background application suffers a bit, both work fine, even when printing 24 graphical pages under photoshop.
At a few occasions, but only on screen I lost some iconized icons (not the program) but after having closing some applications they come back after a while (this is always the same icon that disappears). In these situations, don’t panic, let’s your XP working, usually it finds back all its pointers. With IExplorer, when memory is saturating, I lost sometimes the application but it is not very important.

If fact this not really the memory which suffers of these intense usage but rather the processor that cannot follow what you ask to it (see your task manager, performance), 99% of the time your CPU is 100% in use (what should be normal but it is not when you experiment slow down or hangings) while your memory remains available. Upgrade first your CPU if you can then double or quadruple your RAM.

You forgot to tell us just how much physical RAM memory you actually have.
