I upgraded a while ago from Photoshop 7.0 to CS. I rarely use PS, I am Jasc user at heart but I am finding CS has many good features I wanted to take advantage of. I started experimenting yesterday and find some problems in saving and maintaining the color spectrum of the finished product. It seems PS CS is not wysiwyg.

Example:
Banner2 is a representation of what I see and what I "want" in PS CS. Banner3 is the "save for web" finished jpg. Since I can’t attach files through google you can’t see what I see but take my word for it, they look nothing like each other. It seems the only way I can get what I want from PS CS is to use Alt+PrintScreen and crop the finished product in PSP.

Is this normal? How can I save exactly what I see on the screen in PS CS as a jpg without the colors going bonkers.

To add to this (Hi Michael):

The two Banners are here
http://www.evangelista-web.com/dev/kujawas/

I am trying to help my friend here sort this out…
When looking at the psd version, he sees the colors as in Banner 2, but his save for web looks like banner 3
On my screen, with the SAME psd, I see the colors like Banner 3, with the same results from Save for Web.

When he does a ‘print screen’ capture, and pastes the resulting file into PaintShop, it looks like banner 2.

What we cannot determine is why his monitor is interpreting the colors so differently from the psd, while on my end all seems as it should. It seems that something is rendering that psd file in another color profile on his machine… and the fact that a screen capture catches it has me boggled.

Any light shed on this would help us both rest easier!

You can’t.
Changing any PS file to a jpg makes any color and/or resolution go bonkers. It’s the nature of a jpg.
