Hi,

I use PS7 and I would like to create a planet from a planisphere without using any additional plugin.
Up to now this informaiton is not available as it in my books.

Could someone provide a link to a complete tutorial (for PS7 or equivalent) or, better, explain me in a few steps the differents effects to use to get this result, I mean e.g. a crescent of planet, with cloud and lands (curently I use additional plugins that create that planet and add it as a new layer).

NB. I cannot take advantage of PS version EM like here
http://www.solarvoyager.com/images/tutorials/splanet.jpg Menus and actions look not really identical to the one available under PS7.

Now if you all of you tell me that EM is the ideal version to create such objects, including all the one available in PS7, i could upgrade, but I must be sure to preserve my all .PSD and have a plus using it.

But first of all I ‘d like to know the exact procedure to curve a map (not only using the Filter, render, 3D Transform but more complete) in order to create a planet.

Thanks in advance

Thierry

OK. I have found a part of the answer in the excellent "planetary tutorial" from Alyn, including rings

Photoshop is a photo manipulation program, it’s wasn’t designed to create art from scratch although it can do that. Generaly it is used to finish art that has been created in another application in your case I think you need to start with a 3d world rendering program

I use it and many others as well 😉
But Terragen is not able to create planets (or with many diffculties); it is landscape oriented.
