Please be more specific in the subject, and jot down the OS that you are using. Assuming you are using Billy’s Best (Windows):

Plug-Ins are files with an .8bf (or at least .8??) extension, and they are located in or beneath the "Plug-Ins" folder in your \Programs\Adobe\Photoshop\ path.

In case you have installed the filters using an installer (setup) program, use the installer again to deinstall. Because more files than only the filter .8?? files might be involved.

In case it isn’t your system, the owner might have set up an addtional plugins folder which is mentioned in the Photoshop preferences (Ctrl+K).

Cheers,
Fred

BTW: Photoshop has its own plugins, so don’t just delete the Plug-Ins folder … 🙂

Next time, set up an additional Plugins folder (Ctrl+K) and put your toys there.

You know Ray, I’ve been homeless in my lifetime and have worked many jobs you’d probably find beneath you, including cleaning toilets at Wally World. Recently my earnings have become so low that I’m supplementing my income by working for a landscaper pulling weeds, pushing a mower and lifting large bags of mulch. I’m a 53-yr. old woman with arthritis in my back living in a Katrina affected area. I’ve got the good life compared to many.

I’d much rather give my hard earned money to the bum on the street and the pan handlers; they atleast present themselves, sometimes offering great tales of woe (which you didn’t even bother with). If I have a dime to spare it will go towards helping people in my area.

I strongly suspect you probably needed to lose your job, if you ever had one. You give honest bums a bad name. Some time on the streets just might do you some good, give you some perspective. You’re lucky, you’ve got time before the onset of winter.

I’m hoping this is just a hoax or social experiment, but whatever it is, it’s lazy. No thought put into it, no imagination, no effort. Maybe you’re an inmate trying to make a stash for your release. I’d send you a penny as an insult, but if enough people did that you might actually make some spending money.

Actually, Ray, you’ve spammed usenet. I don’t think Paypal will respect that. I’ll have to mention it to them.

Or just expressing frustration. As to what Inez went trough: We had property on the Mississippi Gulf Coast (a second home that had been in the family over 100 years) 30 foot wave took all of that out. We also lost two family members to the aftermath. If for no other reason than compassion, Inez deserves some slack.

You call it a pity card. Most would call it dealing with life. But then one needs a grasp on reality to qualify for a seat at the grown up’s table.

It’s a pity card when it’s irrelevant to the conversation. I could cry you a river and make you feel sorry for me, I’m just not that pathetic. Deal with life by dealing with it, not tossing your pains up as an excuse for behaving the way you do.

I’m not one of the real *survivors* as we just suffer side affects from Katrina’s aftermath. I just don’t want the rest of the US to forget about the Gulf Coast. Well, it is to us – but we’re actually fairly local to you. And considering that we get our share of hurricanes, I think it’s one of those cases of it’s close to home, so we listen better than the rest of the world.

We’ve actually survived the last few hurricanes really very well – because of all the condos built (that we hate). They given us a huge sea wall, so to speak. With the last one, we were supposed to sustain horrible damage, but because of the condos, only got tropical storm winds. The condos were almost destroyed, though.

And btw, condos sales are DOWN. LOL

BTW, my offer still stands. No expiration date. : )

| Playing the pity card over an argument on usenet is pathetic.

Hey, guess what, Shit-Weasel? It IS the fucking usenet and there’s no fucking moderator. If she wants to, she can fucking talk about doilies and monkey shit if she wants to. Who’s going to stop her? You????
So why don’t YOU deal with YOUR fucking pain over Inez’s post and shut the fuck up??

For the same reasons you posted above.

And yeah, giving someone who took just a tiny second to vent, especially after what she’s gone through a hard fucking time? *THAT’S* pathetic.

And it’s okay for you to give someone who’s gone through and going through worse a hard time? Oh, that’s right, I didn’t play the pity me card, I don’t need it to justify myself.

You know, a few months ago, I would have called you an asshole under my breath and moved on. But I no longer have any toleration for fucking shitheaded fuckwits like you. For the good of the human race, fuckwits like you should be taken outside, shot and then your body burned so as not to contaminate others with your pathetic stupidity.

It’s a frikkin mess here. Blue Roofs, downed trees and rubble everywhere still. And the beach

Ivan hit us, too. But what got us more than the winds (cause of the "condo" sea walls) was approximately 8 tornadoes that tore up and down our major roads, hitting mobile homes (what else?), businesses, and smaller homes.

The worst disaster I think I’ve personally seen in a long time was the freak tornado that demolished most of the town where I lived. Well, that’s not fair to say – we were actually on the road down from MD when it happened (moving here).

It was a freak Supercell F-5 that almost completely destroyed La Plata, MD. No warning – that kind of thing’s not typical for that area. Tornadoes are typically the tiny ones that land out in the trees somewhere, take a tree, and vanish.

After the big tornado, the home that we had lived in (and already sold) was about two feet tall – completely destroyed. One of my best friends had just left a local KFC, began strapping her kids into their car seats, looked up, and the KFC was GONE. No one was killed though. All in all, that devastating tornado only killed 3 people – it should have been so much worse, though. So glad it wasn’t.

My CIL is one of the lucky ones – they finally paid to have her roof fixed (it was completely torn off in Charles, repairs begun and then retorn off in Ivan). They finally ponied up about 6 weeks ago. And she was supposed to have had one of the *good* insurance companies (as if there is such a thing).

Not to rub it in, but we have USAA, and their rates only went up a tiny bit (about $9 a month). So I guess we’re pretty lucky. But then, USAA only insures a small segment of the population – the commissioned officers in the Military, so I don’t think their bottom line is as absolute as others who are open to the public.

We’re also insured up to the eyeballs – not that it would mean a damn thing if they decided to drag their heels or outright not pay. I have taken pictures (regularly updated) of EVERYTHING. Mere XBox controller? Yep. I have it recorded and photoed. If we end up getting hit, I’m going to get every last dime that I’m entitled to!

And the insurance companies REALLY tried to get out of claims any way they could. Many many had to sue to get settlements. And now they are trying to get out of re-newing policies.
I can’t afford to go back to the beach, (lived there for 25 years) codes have changed
(which they should) but contractors are raping everyone to build to these codes. Which
in the real world isn’t any more labor intensive than they always had to do. Every one is
getting rich off these things. And we are left to deal with it.

I’ve been with USAA since ’81, for Home and Auto..
And even USAA tries a few dirty tricks with me. But I got my settlement without going to court, but I had to holler and make a nusance out of myself first. 🙂

Hi Connie – you sound like such a nice person, I’m sure you will be a welcome addition to the forum!!

First of all, I’m not a new addition – I’ve been here for quite some time and have made an effort to help newbies with any and all questions that they have had that I could help with. Steggy usually beats me to the punch, though. : )
If you take a minute and look at my other posts in this group (and ADG, as well), you’ll see that I *am* a nice person when it comes to serious discussion, newbie questions, and pleasant topics.

However, I’m not nice to spammers, assholes and trolls. And Larry Linson is nuthin but a troll. And not even a very good one at that.

And as for Voivod, he insulted two *VERY* nice people (Inez & NotMe) for no reason other than being OT. Both of them are *VERY* valued members of this group (and ADG) and always bend over backwards to help others and be kind to those that others might flame. And the low to middle income folks, the workers of NOLA, who previously rented can’t come back because rents are up 40% since Katrina.

We hear a bit about FL and I knew some areas were still having a hard time from previous hits. Now it’s looking like Ernesto may be targeting FL. There’s no *good* place for a hurricane to go once it’s in the Gulf.

They are predicting today that it might go to land in So. FL. If it gets into the open Gulf, then I have to worry. They almost always seem to hone in on my house when they get into the open Gulf. 🙂

Opal & Erin hit me dead on. They eye right over my house. And Ivan went just a couple miles, litterally only a couple miles west of me, which is
even worse with the wind direction and surge…..

If it looks like it’s gonna clear the tip of FL, time to fill all the gas cans for the generator. 🙁

One of the most frustrating things about Katrina, as far as New Orleans goes, is that it was largely a man made disaster; the levee failures combined with the distructive negligence of the wetlands creatd the worst of it. The citizens learned the hard way that the agencies entrusted with their protection were not trustworthy. I hope people around the country who live near lakes, rivers, dams, etc. have been nudged out of complacency and don’t *assume* that their local and federal agencies are protecting them. Sure would be great if we could predict tracks accurately and sooner. Not the kind of suspense any of us enjoy. Being English and receiving news in the UK (Internationally owned news services – rather than the native owned ones only allowed in the US – or has that changed?) and visiting the US at least every other year when I go ‘native’ with US friends I would prefer to draw a veil over any further discussions on this one as less said etc…….

Well, it looks as though living in the armpit of Florida is going to be just that – an armpit. The weather channels are saying that Ernie is going to be moving east of us, but still close enough to feel it. No word yet (from my sources, anyway) on whether he’s going to go hurricane . . .

Hard to get supplies, equipment and qualified help. We had two funerals and had to pay a $1900.00 ‘fee’ to have each of the graves opened in less than 6 months. Normal cost is ~ $300.00

We have a large extended family that about covers all necessary skill sets and we have the equipment as well. We have to truck building supplies from over a 1000 miles when we can get them without paying exorbitant prices. Most of the family work time is spent on family/friend related projects so profit is not an issue or an option.

I’ve live though any number of serious hurricanes and FEMA is in my opinion a criminal activity. Red Cross is not much better. the only formal origination I have anything positive to say is the Salvation Army. There were a lot of private groups that did yeoman’s work. Still there was the occasional dumb a** like the group that would not pass out fresh water because it was supplied in beer bottles (from a brewer from somewhere up north) and had the firms label on the bottle saying pure water donated by such and such beer company.

Nah – the trick is to make sure that you appear to be the old fart bumbling about then be able to catch the quarry when they are not expecting it. Gets the concessions a few years early as well. Always used the ‘Columbo act’ in boiler surveying, now with age it is easy to use in real life 😉

I’ve never used his tactics, though – I don’t have nearly enough patience. : ) Maybe someday . . . : )

Yup

They are the only 2 from over there that I really go for.

Generally I watch little but detective stuff or documentaries on the TV.

The Columbo style got me lots of info about factories etc fast from the ones who know but would generally clam up at any formal ‘suited’ approach.

The number of Managers, factory engineers etc who were blown away by this stupid tramp seeming to know more about their actual operations than they did and was telling them that they were crap and quantifying it after a few hours made for a very enjoyable life.

Yup

They are the only 2 from over there that I really go for.

Which ones??
Generally I watch little but detective stuff or documentaries on the TV.

Neither do I, really. I will watch the true crime shows, but the acted/scripted stories leave me cold. Usually, because they’re based on true events and it somehow seems to be making a profit off the misery and pain of others.

I like "New Detectives," "Forensic Files," and "Cold Case Files" the best.

For scripted, I like Columbo (which is MUCH more creative and clever than the others, IMHO), "Monk," "CSI" (original), and "Psych" (cause it’s hilarious!!).

But, really, you all have typically been at the forefront of forensic techniques and technology. Who could forget that you guys are the ones who FIRST used DNA to convict a criminal! : ) Not to mention Watson and Crick!? : )
The Columbo style got me lots of info about factories etc fast from the ones who know but would generally clam up at any formal ‘suited’ approach.

I’ve taken the "playing dumb" approach with a few printers who were set on lowballing prices on jobs. Getting the info and then turning it around on them was a lot of fun.

But then, that was back when it was a male-dominated industry with few female artists (unlike today), so I didn’t have to bend over backwards in "acting dumb." They automatically assumed that if I were a woman, there was no way that I could be as technical as a man.

If it had taken any real dedication to playing the part of Columbo, I couldn’t have done it!
The number of Managers, factory engineers etc who were blown away by this stupid tramp seeming to know more about their actual operations than they did and was telling them that they were crap and quantifying it after a few hours made for a very enjoyable life.

LOL! Hopefully, you didn’t break an arm clapping yourself on the back! I know *I* would have! People being so pretentious as to not only withhold vital information on the basis of career/bottom line, but to assume that someone who SEEMS to be a "bumbler," or in Columbo’s case, "lower-class" are disgusting excuses for human beings and *deserve* to get caught with their hands in the cookie jar!

And if they’re so stupid as to judge a book by it’s cover and lack basic survival skills, all the better.

Don’t think that New Detectives have been foisted on us yet and by and large the others leave me cold.

We have our own versions of the other 2 actually, which I do enjoy. Perhaps because they seem far more even handed.

Dunno about that

In my case there was no sense of ‘winning’ or suchlike. The thing is that as a Boiler/Pressure Vessel surveyor, get it wrong and places get blown away or at least a major modification to the architecture. Since in this sort of stuff you can typically only see something like 10% physically and the condition is very much down to operational factors, then we only get one bite of the cherry before stuff is being reassembled and commissioned, getting all best gen there is can and sometimes is a life saver.

So when bad practice is found, the results caught, managers etc made fools of (often without their being aware of it) and the errors and results of their ways shown, going home is a case of breathing a big sigh of relief that another one hasn’t been missed.

How do you mean as to "even handed?"

I think we, possibly more than other countries, assume guilt before innocence (take a look at the Ramsey/Karr situation). And our crime det shows definitely mirror that.

Oh please! Don’t be so modest. If it hadn’t have been for you guys, most of our criminals would have gotten away with murder!

Jeffreys’ research convicted Pitchfork in ’83 – even though DNA typing was still in its infancy.

However, 11 years later, in the OJ Simpson trial, it’s use was still so rare and "unreliable" that OJ went free. Who’s to say how much longer it would have been for our scientists to discover it’s reliability if that’s the typical?! Honestly, I shudder to think of it.

I don’t see OJ walking free if it had happened in *your* country. Justice would have been served.

IIRC, your status record of innocents being sent to jail is much lower than ours. In fact, the Innocence Project owes it’s success to you guys!

That sounds like a definite "win" to me. The more lives you save, the better (obviously). I honestly couldn’t imagine having so many lives depend on my expertise and intelligence.

What kind of penalty do they (the managers) face? I would hope it’s a steep one.

Well a couple of things get to me. Most of the imports have the focus on the ‘star’ when the plot is the important thing. Who is acting in what part is totally irrelevant providing that they are competent to do so.
Columbo is a bit different in that often it is quite late on before he appears even. The style is interesting and useful as I have found over the years, but there is some reasoning there.

Most of the others to me are either cameras following a prancing star with the support cast there to glorifying that star. Murder She Wrote being a classic over the top example.
Or
Others seem to exist to glorify the ‘service’ be it FBI, Police or whatever for local consumption. The even handedness appears far more apparent in the home produced stuff in that the producers are quite happy to have a story line that rips straight into them.

Again dunno. For that I would have to comment on your enforcement authorities, about which I am blissfully ignorant.

Don’t think of it that way. It is not a competition. The only thing on going thought wise is that now maybe everyone on site now accepts that I am on their side in that I am there to save them and their business, physically and financially, so going forward we all will work together and trust each other

Thats the whole basis of engineering though. Next time you step into your car, a lift or damn near anything man made think of the fact that you have just placed your whole well being in the hands of various levels of engineers who have designed, built and maintained that item.

So when bad practice is found, the results caught, managers etc made fools of (often without their being aware of it) and the errors and results of their ways shown, going home is a case of breathing a big sigh of relief that another one hasn’t been missed.

Normally because I have found the deficiency and the situation is rectified why set nasty things into motion?
Much better to have everyone on side and more savvy, which is what then exists.

But the penalties under the UK Pressure Systems Regulations 2000 can run to five years in jail plus up to £10 000 fine last time I looked.
