I know this is probably a very simple question, but I want to know how to change the color of a shirt (easy) but while keeping any textures such as wrinkles, folds, etc. Thanks in advance.

Select the outline of the shirt.

Image > Desaturate.

Adjustment Layer "Solid Color…"

Pick the colour.

Change Layer Blending Mode to "Overlay". (you can try other modes too.)

Adjust the layer opacity to taste.

Hope that helps.

Or:

Select the outline of the shirt

Create an adjustment layer, adjust as needed (curves, channel mixer, hue/saturation are all viable option to do this

Having tried the others, I just picked the easiest adjustment layer to handle.

There are still a lot of variables to play with (as I indicated).

Image—»Desaturate, if you’re going to go that route, would be better served by creating a separate Hue/Sat adjustment layer.
