Dual Core Processor support or not?

I am running a new system with a Intel Mobo and a Intel P4 830 Dual core processor. CS2 appears to be running some filters and funtions using both processors but not all. For example Extrude and ACR Raw only are using a single processor. Still pretty fast, but not as fast as some have claimed. One benchmark claims all the filters use dual processors which is not the case on my system.
Any thoughts on this? Is there a preference that I need to set?

I posted almost the same question earlier today. In my case I was doing a long batch process using FocalBlade sharpening filter. Only one processor was being used, albeit at nearly 100%. Does the filter control multiprocessor use?

Joel – Yes, plugin filters have to provide their own multiprocessor support. In this case, it sounds like FocalBlade does not use multiple processors.

Chris,
While I understand that independant plugins might not be optimised for dual core processors, at the Adobe Filters? I only get some of the standard Adobe Filters to work dual core.

The filters built into Photoshop are mostly accelerated for multiple processors.

Some of the plugin filters that come with Photoshop are accelerated for multiple processors, but not all of them.

And yes, and I said – it’s up to the third party filter developer to supply their own multiple processor support in their plugin filter (some do, but most don’t).
