I don’t know what it’s called, so I’ll call it a process meter. I used to see it down with the status bar in PS6. It was a slider metering lengthy processing. By the progress of the slider, the user got an idea how much longer the process would take.

Does anyone know that name of what I’m looking for and where to find it?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Progress bar.

On Macintosh and in CS2 on Windows it’s a dialog that comes up in front if the process is going to take more than a few seconds, otherwise it won’t show at all.

On Windows and versions before CS2, it was in the window frame around the Photoshop background. But since CS2 no longer has such a background, the progress bar can’t go there….

Yesterday I did a smudge with a very large brush. It must have taken about 15 seconds to process. That’s when I realized the "progress bar" (thank you) was missing.
