My Photoshop CS started with the below problem about 1 year after installation.

When doing a TIFF "Save As" the file size is locked in the "Medium" position and can not be changed. The image size slide bar also is inactive. I have tried reloading from my CS disk, but the set-up program will not go beyond the "Type Set-UP" (e.g Typical) screen.

The JPEG "Save-AS" works just fine in file size select.

Are you using the Jpeg Compression setting in the Tiff Options dialogue?

If so you should be aware you might not be able to open your files in other applications.

If you really need to compress TIFFs, LZW compression is the most universally used method especially as it is lossless.

Unless you are really short on disk space, save your TIFFs without compression as they will open and save much quicker.
