Problem opening tiff or jpg email attachments in Photoshop 5.0

I had Photoshop 4.0 and upgraded to 5.0 but whenever I get a tiff or jpg attached to an email and open it, it opens in 4.0 and not 5.0. What do I have to do to get my email attachments to open in 5.0? My operating system is Windows XP and email is Outlook Express.

That’s a function of Windows. Open Win Explorer and find a TIF or JPG file. Right click and choose open with. Browse to Photoshop 5.0. Choose to always open that file type with that application.

That didn’t work. My only choice is Photoshop, there is no way to choose betweeen 4.0 and 5.0. It looks like 5.0 is the only one but it still goes to 4.0. The only way I can open anything in 5.0 is if I open while in 5.0.

Don’t pick Photoshop from the list. Click on "Browse" and navigate to Photoshop 5 directory, and double-click on photoshop.exe in that directory.

I didn’t just upgrade to 5.0. I got a new computer and operating system and had to load 4.0 before loading the 5.0 upgrade that I already had.

reload 5, select custom install. that lets you choose the types of files to associate with it. also make sure you get the 5.02 update from the download area.
